TUESDAY, June 18, 2019 (HealthDay News) — The number of measles cases in the United States so far this year has reached 1,044 in 28 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

That’s the most cases since 1992 and since the disease was declared eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, meaning it was no longer continuously transmitted in the country, CNN reported.

States that have reported measles cases to CDC are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.

The CDC update was issued Friday.
